With solid credentials such as a bachelor’s degree in ayurvedic medical sciences, diploma in nutrition and health education and a specialization in sports nutrition from the U.S, she has culled more than 15 years of rich and varied experience. Dr. Gitanjali’s approach is to first gauge your Ayurvedic constitution by a set of Ayurvedic principles (an imbalance in the elements related to the Ayurvedic constitution can cause a tendency to gain weight or fall ill) and rectify this with a diet that aims to better your metabolism and overall wellbeing. According to Ayurveda, the word prakriti means “nature” or natural form of build and constitution of the human body. It is determined by a combination of three Doshas or bio energies – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. An individual’s health, holistic wellbeing and the cures for any disease are governed by these three bio energies. It is the combination of these three bio energies that makes a person different and unusual from others. Infact the diet we take is again a mix of these bio energies.
Any imbalance in the proportion of vata, pitta and kapha in the body due to wrong eating habits or bad lifestyle can lead to diseases. Therefore, it’s important to know that eating right means eating according to one’s genetic makeup or the “bio energies”.
